And while this sun-drenched Italian island is producing seriously great wines right now, it’s still flying a bit under the mainstream radar. You’ve got insider access, of course. Which makes this discovery even more delicious. (Bragging rights!) From Baglio Parisi’s third-generation, family-run winery, Rotondo spotlights one of Siciliy’s star reds, Frappato—famed for making elegant-bodied wines with a beguiling aroma and zippy red-fruit notes. Look for notes of bergamot, dried flowers, raspberry, and pepper on the nose, followed by a crisp palate and a long, savory finish. No wonder Italy’s top critic, Luca Maroni, rated it 92 points. Try it chilled (20-30 mins in the fridge ought to do) with a fancy antipasti platter, chicken marsala, creamy mushroom risotto, or roasted turkey.
